Scaatycat Cattery

In Quest of Lilac & Chocolate Persians

This is the Funny Little House on the Inlet!!

We live with the most amazing kitties in the world.
We are a small, hobby, cattery.
We keep our numbers very low.
This enables us to give each cat the love and attention we feel they deserve!
We are a, cage free cattery, except for our outdoor, exercise enclosures.

"Our House is a very, very, very fine House..
With 2? cats in the Yard.
Life doesn't seem so hard.."
'Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young'

We live on an island situated just off of the West Coast of Canada. Our home is located at the edge of an inlet called Portage. This area, is home to The West Coast Saalish and Songhees Nations. Our land has always been traveled by, the Tillicum Tribe.
We live very close to the Provincial Capital of British Columbia, in the Harbour City of Victoria. It is known for its fabulous, lush gardens and beautiful, snowy, mountain scenery. Our weather is ‘anything but’, Canadian! We grow palm trees & kiwi fruit. Some of the Worlds best wines come from our little Island!
We have the best ’High Tea’ in Canada. It is held daily at the Empress Hotel! Our city is also home to the World’s famous, BUTCHART GARDENS.
Ecotourism helps visitors to our Island, get 'up close and personal' with our large group of resident pod, Killer Whales.
The Island is temperate northern rainforest and is home to the largest stands of 'old growth forests' in the World! We have year round, snow covered mountains, and loads of alpine meadows.
We are the location of one of the largest Pacific Salmon runs, on the West Coast of North America. We have more American Bald Eagles than are found in, nearly, all of the USA!
Cougars, Roosevelt Elk, Black Bears..... But interestingly, NO SKUNKS! LOL!
Two of the rarest animals in the Universe, dwell here, on Vancouver Island.. Marmots & Kermode Bears (Great Spirit Bears.. giant ALL WHITE BLACK BEARS)!
GEE! I guess that, lilac & chocolate Persians will fit right in! LOL!

Access ‘on and off’ of our Island, is achieved only by Ferry and Airplane. We are very limited in our number of Cat Shows, but this does not stop us from becoming a ‘hotbed’ of great cat breeders!!!
Our little Island is very well known for great Persians, British Shorthairs, Rex, Manx, Sphynx,  & Ragdolls, We have at least one TICA show a year, and, when they can, most of our island breeders, journey to the mainland to support The Cat Fanciers Association shows. We support a strong ACFA cat club also.

We love to SHOW OFF VANCOUVER ISLAND whenever we can.
Come over for a Cat Show.. You will not regret it!!

We are surrounded by, water and woods.
Our kitties get plenty of sunshine, and entertainment.
We are in the process of developing outdoor enclosures.
Each enclosure is 8' x 4' by 7.5' high.
They have plenty of climbing space and 'zoom room'!
Each has a 'cuddle house' made of cedar.
Each has its own set of furniture.

This is our new sunroom.
It remains open all summer .. day and night!
It faces a beautiful plum hedge and
In the Winter, it overlooks the Inlet!
As you can see, the kids have a great time
Soaking up the rays, and watching the birds!!!

Kittens In The Sun

The bottom half is 1" thick, hand cut lattice.
It gives us great air circulation
It makes the kitties feel secure, to be able to peek out!
We can hose out and disinfect in minutes!
In the Winter, we use, clip on plexi-glass panels, to stop any wind.

Indy In The Sun

At night, the kitties return into the house
to take up their sleeping positions,
in our bed and on the couch!
They also have the option of
sitting in the sunroom
and taking in the night breezes
coming in off of the Inlet.
Come by and Visit Anytime..
The tea is always on.

When our kitties need to have some privacy
and a bit of
outside sunshine
we have playpens!
